Ambiguous Skulls
The Silence of the Lambs, 1991 |
 |
The original artwork for the movie poster shows a Tobacco horn moth with the picture of a skull on it. On closer inspection, the skull is actually three naked women (seven in some versions). There you go, you know something few people do. This was inspired by a Dali artwork - see elsewhere on this page. |
Human Skull Consisting of Seven Naked Womens Bodies (In Voluptate Mors) - Salvador Dali, 1951 |
 |
Photograph by Philippe Halsman after a drawing by Dali. You didn’t reach this site with the keywords "naked women", did you ? |

The cover from the album with the same name from Def Leppard. In fact it's a remake from Gillbert's original. |

This scene of a woman doing some makeup in front of a mirror, looks like a skull from a distance. The title has two meanings : vanity is the name of a dressing table with a mirror, it also means excessive pride in appearance. The message behind the image is : don't worry too much about material things. We'll all be dead in the end. | View on Allposters.com |

Cover of Cher's album Heart of Stone. This cover was quickly replaced by a normal picture of Cher, because so many people thought it was so ugly. The original cover is now a collector's item.
