An
ambiguous image shows more than one item at the same time. The most common examples are the wife
and the mother-in-law or the vase and the two faces. There are a few different kinds of this thing :
- In a completely ambiguous image the entire image can be seen in more than one way.
- If the image requires you to switch between a foreground and background (light and dark), this kind is called a figure/ground illusion.
- The composite image shows something big made out of smaller things, like male face and nude women. This is also
called an archimboldesque.
