 | The publisher was kind enough to send me a copy for review. There are not so many books about ambigrams ; that fact alone already makes this one interesting. It has first been published in 1992 and had gone out of print. In the mean time, Langdon was asked to provide some ambigrams for Dan Browns novel "Angels and Demons" (also recommended). Some time later, Dan Brown wrote "The Da Vinci Code" and then the world went mad. All his novels went to the top of the charts, also renewing the interest for ambigrams. So this book was republished. Is it worth the purchase ? Oh, definitely. Let's face it, many people will be interested because the've seen the phenomenon in "Angels and Demons". Langon explains how he creates ambigrams, how he met Dan Brown and eventually took the challenge of creating the illuminati symbols. Almost every page contains several ambigrams, along with the philosophy behind them. Nice trivia : the hero from both books was named after Langdon. |
